I am an artist, before I painted I drew 

Drawing is a must for me, the starting point of all my painting, I use paint and medium in the same way as I use a pencil, this results in a work that is characterized by an emphasis on form and shape. 

When I paint I start with a basis concept. a tree, a plant, a body, a scene, an other, but underlying this is always a feeling of what I want the finished work to reflect -not the tree. the plant. the body, the scene but my own reactions to the developing shapes and forms on the canvas that emerge as I paint the tree, the plant, the body, the scene, the other. 

I have no idea when I start a painting what the finished work will look like, but I have the essence of the work in my head, an essence that cannot be verbalized in advance, I allow the evolving work to dictate the final painted response to shapes and forms that emerge on the canvas, as I paint.
